WELCOME to Nutrition and Health . info.

The focus of this web site is to provide a resource to provide sound information, research and major studies on the effects of nutrition (what we eat) and our health. Information that I have found in my personal search for answers to the questions below:

Why has the doctor of today not yet lived up to Thomas Edison's prediction that "The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but will rather cure and prevent disease with nutrition", despite all the evidence now available to prove the accuracy of that statement?

The questions to be answered are:

  • why diabetes and obesity are now at epidemic levels
  • why hypertension/high blood pressure and high cholesterol have become diseases requiring drugs for life
  • why arthritis is accepted as a normal problem of old age
  • why skin cancer increases as we use increasing amounts of sun tan cream and these creams get increasingly higher SPF factors
  • why other cancers are on the increase
  • why cases of ADHD, autism and other ASDs (autism spectrum disorders) have increased dramatically
  • why are Altzheimer's, Parkinson's and other degenerative diseases increasing

There is a wealth of information now freely available based on real evidence and good science as well as information driven by commercial interests - namely the food and pharmaceutical industries. The challenge is to understand which sources are providing true answers to those questions as it is clear a great deal of advice is driven by money, not based on sound science or observing the real evidence.

It is time for ordinary people to gather a momentum in sharing personal experiences to build a data base that can apply basic "common sense" to the current information available.

Almost every day there is some or other press release on new drugs, research linking some disease to a single cause and often conflicting with other research. Almost every day we are reminded what we should be eating and what we should be avoiding. It is well known that there is a direct link between what we eat, our diet and our health. Nutrition and health are interrelated.

Applying basic "common sense" vs "commercial gain" what are the answers to the following questions:

  • How can margarine and industrial spreads be healthier than butter?
  • Why do primitive populations, not exposed to commercially produced foods with adequate food supplies, not suffer any of our "modern diseases" and achieve long life?
  • Why do we now have two types of identifiable types of malnutrition?
  • Why are so many highly experienced qualified experts questioning current "wisdom" and their voices not being heard by the masses, including our medical advisors?

Can we develop a community to become a strong enough network of data and information that the world media and politicians will support over big business/major advertising revenue, "press releases" that become main headline news and "donations" to political parties?

Please explore the site as it grows, contact me with any information and suggestions on how we can build this into a strong community that can make a positive difference.

Quote:
What is particularly shocking is that the effect of the low-fat diet on clinical events was never tested before it was recommended to the public. To get a drug into clinical practice demands that it has been shown to be harmless or at least without serious side effects, first in various laboratory animals, then in healthy voluntary test subjects, and finally its therapeutic value must have been proven in a number of clinical trials. But dietary advices are given to millions of people based on speculation only.
